Coaching Tip: Practicing transitions (T1 and T2) is crucial to a successful triathlon race.
Have someone time your transitions. Practice, practice, practice. Keep in mind the steps you will take and repeat that over and over to yourself as you run into transition. “Sunglasses, helmet, bike shoes…”
T1 is after the swim and before the bike leg of the race.
T2 is between the bike and the run portion of the triathlon.
